The Community College of Kharj is considered one of the most important educational institutions in the governorate. It prepares high-school leavers for the marketplace by providing them with the knowledge and skills that they need. The Ministerial Council Decree No. 73 of 25/2/1422 AH was issued approving the decision of the Supreme Economic Council No. (4/22) dated 4/3/1422 AH, which dictates the opening of thirteen community colleges affiliated to the Ministry of Higher Education. The community college in Al-Kharj was one of these colleges. Al-Kharj Community College was established and was affiliated to the Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University and then became affiliated to KSU in accordance with the decision of the Council of Ministers issued on (5/7/1429). Since 1430 AH, the Community College in Al-Kharj became part of PSAU. Academic programmes: The College offers five diploma programmes, which are classified in the Ministry of Civil Service. These programmes are offered by three departments: Computer Department The Department runs three programmes: 1 Computer Networks and Internet: graduates from this programme are qualified as computer operators and trainer assistants; they are ranked in the Civil Service sixth in the first class. 2 Programming and Computer Sciences: it graduates programmer assistants ranked sixth in the first class. 3 Office Applications and Computer Maintenance for Deaf and Non-oral students (evening) Department of Business Administration The Department runs two diploma programmes: 1 Accounting: graduates from this programme do such jobs as revenue collector, sales officer, treasurer, executing officer, custody officer, store curator, warehouse guard, provision inspector, buyer, bookkeeper, trade monitor, clerk in a financial department, marketing trainer; he is to be ranked fifth in the second class. 2 Office Management and Secretarial Skills (library administration): job opportunities for graduates from this programme include secretary, manager assistant, ranked fifth in the second class. English Department It runs one programme: 1 English language - graduates from this programme can have the following career options: translator, secretary, manager assistant, ranked fifth in the first class.
