Being keen to contribute in the World Rabies Day, and raise the healthy awareness among students, faculty members and staff, the Unit of Student's Affairs in association with the representative department of Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture at Al-kharj organized a workshop entitled " Rabies: Causes and Prevention" on Sunday corresponding to 30/01/1441 AH.
Dr. Mahmoud Sayed Attia, the specialist of family medicine at Alseeh Medical Centre defines the rabies and introduces some statistics of how it is dangerous disease. In addition, he manifests the symptoms of the disease, the preventive methods, and how to treat the persons who are exposed to dog bite.
Dr. Ahmd Fathi gives an introduction about the World Rabies Day. He talks about some basic facts of the disease, and the characteristics of virus. He also addresses the sources of infection, the symptoms of disease in the animals, the followed procedures in diagnosing the disease. He stresses the importance of prevention from rabies disease through vaccinating the pet animals, and warns against touching astray wild animals and the necessity of vaccination when one is bitten by a dog.
At the end of meeting, the department of ministry of environment, water and Agriculture at Alkharj extend their thanking to Dr. Hamd bin Abdullah Al-Qumizi for his interest in raising the health awareness among students and college affiliates and his role in actualizing the communal partnership with the organization of local community.
