In the context of the interest laid by Al-kharj Community College toward entrepreneurship and its role in achieving sustainable development, the College organized in association with King Salman Institute For Entrepreneurship a workshop entitled –the Contributions of the Entrepreneurs in Saudi Arabia Economy- on Thursday, 18/12/1441 AH. Mr.Mashary Ali Alrajeh, an entrepreneurship official at King Salman Institute For Entrepreneurship has participated in the workshop as he presented an academic PowerPoint presentation tackling the entrepreneurship in education. He refers to the wide gap between the number of the graduates and the available job opportunities at labor market, which results into the emergence of the entrepreneurship knowledge for filling the gap. He defines entrepreneurship as the establishing of free business ventures based on innovative ideas that fill in the gap existing between supply and demand. He emphasizes the need to establish colleges or units in universities that pay attention toward the entrepreneurship especially when considering the current competition in labor market and the need for a generation from the entrepreneurs who is capable of accomplishing a substantial change in society. In addition, Al-rajeh addresses the importance of the availability of Business Incubators since they represent the system that tests and develops the suggested ideas for entrepreneurship ventures. As an evidence of interest paid to business incubators, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has started establishing entrepreneurship centers across the Kingdom in order to facilitate the implementation of entrepreneurship ideas and to guarantee the accessibility of funding sources. In this context, Al-rajeh believes that the among the most important goals of the entrepreneurship system in university are spreading the awareness, qualifying students to job opportunities instead of being only job-seekers, motivating business sector and investors to invest in the ideas of students, and enhancing the efficiency of the small and mid-size enterprises. Mr. Abduallah Saed Al-qahatni, a specialist journalist in entrepreneurship has also participated in conducting the workshop, as he narrates the stories of success of some entrepreneurs in KSA. He talks about franchise, and the most salient small and mid-size enterprises funding programs like, Hadaf, Mushaat , Kafala, Badar, and so on. We are living in knowledge economy age, as we have recently witnessed the success of number of companies, the policy of which is based on know-how and the wise implementation of projects. The market trend in the upcoming period will draw heavily on skill and professionalism and those who can perceive human feelings and exploit it for marketing commodities will be highly successful, Alqtan added.. Several faculty members interested in entrepreneurship and specialists have attended the workshop including representatives from some bodies like Agricultural developmental fund at Al-kharj , Bank of Social Development and faculty members of Al-kharj community college. At the end of the workshop, the participants and attendees have expressed their deep thanking to the dean of Al-kharj Community College, Dr. Hamad bin Abdullah Al-Qumizi and academic and administrative staff for their permanent keen on presenting effective and positive programs and they also express their admiration of the organization of the event and hospitality. .Dr. Hamad Al-Qumizi extended his thanking to the rector of the University, Prof. Abdulaziz Al-Hamid for his support and encouragement for such programs that contribute to enhancing the academic level of the faculty and bridging the gap between university and community. He also expressed his thanking to Dr. Mashary Al-Osaimi for his permanent follow-up for the programs and the events hosted by the college. In addition, Dr. Al-Qumizi praised the academic and professional level reflected by the participants in the workshop whilst conducting it. He also asserted that the college is willing to fulfill the objectives and expectations of the University and to contribute to achieving the highest level of quality in its programs
